The principal goal of this activity is to accelerate grid modernization by providing technical assistance to northwestern states in the United States, utilities, and other stakeholders that are facing key emerging grid modernization challenges. The northwestern United States is rich in hydroelectric power generation, which primarily serves loads in a large geographical region that includes the states of Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Montana. This project aims to demonstrate the use of smart reconfiguration and protection system methods for enhancing the quality of power service for the Idaho Falls Power (IFP) distribution network, located in Idaho Falls.
